I read the most awesome book recently called, The Noticer. Author Andy Andrews says that, "The Noticer is rooted in the belief that our time on earth is a gift to be used wisely and one of the best ways to use that gift is by noticing those who have made an impact in our lives". That's what I hope to do this year. I want to notice EVERYTHING for 365 days - All of the God moments in my life - All of the friends and family that surround me - and as always, every bit of the funny that goes on in this world. Hope you enjoy and YOU become a noticer too.

Pumpkins, George, Slim and Greasy

Days #306-#308:

I carved a pumpkin. That is much harder than it looks. I've never carved a pumpkin up to this point in my life. Now i know why. That is some tricky business. Grandma came home. i headed to her house. My tires needed rotated. Detour? Absolutely. Slim and Greasy rotated my tires. Greasy is the one in the blue hat. Slim's in the red ski mask. They are almost as fast as a NASCR pit crew. Finally made it to Gran's. SO glad to have her home. George was there. He was hilarious. This is him telling us about the deer he saw in Grandma's yard. Uncle Earl and I gave her a bath. Even more hilarious... 3 of us in one little bitty shower. Today, Sister and i climbed under the trailer to attempt to put up some insulation that had fallen. I soon learned that I could dance on top of the Empire State building and it wouldn't bother me at all, I'll step on a spider any day of the week without flenching, but put me in a tight space, in the dark and i will have a panic attack. True Story. :0)

A day of days...

Day #305:
It's a happy happy happy birthday day. Today is a day we have always celebrated BIG. Today is Mom, Coach Finley and Mrs. Tidwell's birthday! Mom was my mom of course. The best in the entire world. I wish she was here now that I have a job and have money and could actually get her something good... or at least cook her one of Chef's famous receipes. I think she'd have appreciated the effort. Coach Finley was the first guy I ever loved in my life and was my basketball coach. he's best known for being quarterback of our Superbowl games in elementary school. WE still make him a cake every year. Mrs. Tidwell? 3rd grade teacher. She still sends me birthday cards which is awesome. She taught me to be very patriotic, write in cursive, helped me realize that I have NO reading comprehension skills, and gave me the chance to perfect my comedy chops. Those multiplication tables were nearly the death of me, so i'd keep her laughing long enough to count it up on my fingers. Big day - Big birthdays - Big memories. :0)

My Billboard Pals...

Days #301-#304:

So today was fun. I got to see 2 of my old pals - probably 2 of my favorite guys to leave the Shoals, hands down. Chris Anderson and Lee Taylor came to visit. Actually the were having a meeting, so of course they stopped in for a chat. SO Good to see them. They're awesome. I didn't have my camera or they would've been my pic of the day. I actually think they'd have posed for me unlike just about everyone else I get to be my pic of the day. Such nice people. And hey, how many friends do you have that are Billboard Chart Toppers? Well, maybe not chart toppers, but they are Billboard Toppers. Both have won the Young Free Alabama Spokesperson for Listerhill Credit Union the past 2 years. It's COOL to know people on a Billboard ~ and it makes it even better when they are AWESOME peeps! :0)

PS Also got to TALK to Gran on the phone today. So good to hear her voice. She goes home tomorrow morning at 9:30am!!!!! :0)

A Little More Pink...

Day #300:

One more article from the Daily Mtn. Eagle this time about the Pink Out action going on in my hometown. The two in the pink shirts are people I love dearly and have known just about my entire life. Linda is Mal's (my best friend since we were 5) mom. She makes AWESOME chocolate gravy for breakfast and fried potatoes for dinner. The cute guy in the hat beside her is Phil. My softball coach. I grew up with him and then he became my coach. LOVE that guy. So proud of him and all he's done. Read the sweet article about them below. :0)

Showing their support
by W. Brian Hale Daily Mountain Eagle

Lynn Bears senior linemen Jared Tittle (75), Nathan Berry (76) and Richard Lopez (60) join Coach Phillip Smith and faculty member Linda Hardin in the team’s month-long “pinkout” to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Hardin, who has been diagnosed with the illness twice in her life, has been one of the many inspirations in the team’s decision to adopt the cause. - Photo by: W. Brian Haleslideshow
LYNN -- As the top-ranked Lynn Bears take the football field tonight -- like on other Friday nights throughout the month of October -- there will be a noticeable addition to the team's colors of red, white and black worn by players, coaches and fans that is not traditionally found on football uniforms and spirit wear: The color pink. With October being designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lynn High School was eager to make its observance and support of the cause special -- as well as one that the entire community could get behind. Since pink is recognized as the official color for breast cancer awareness, the idea to hold a "pinkout" -- similar to "whiteouts" and "blackouts" held at college football stadiums across the country -- struck a cord with the Bears' Head Coach Phillip Smith. Smith, however, saw much more potential beyond the fans of the team dressing in pink to show their support."Our kids have seen the firsthand effects of how breast cancer can effect lives," Smith said. "Many of them know someone outside of school who has battled with it and that's something that sticks out in their minds even at their young age."Smith brought his idea of how his team could support breast cancer awareness in September -- an idea that would include a pink integration to their game uniforms -- to get an idea of how they react to the proposal. The Bears' October uniforms would include pink half-sleeves and pink athletic tape on gamedays, as well as pink work-out shirts that would be worn under their jerseys. His players' response to the idea was not only surprising, but also heartwarming."We talked quite a bit about it beforehand and discussed some of the issues that go on in the battle breast cancer patients go through," Smith said. "They really took to the idea of showing their support in their uniforms. Since then, it has really evolved into our community supporting the idea, as well as our students and faculty. Our fanbase here at Lynn as supportive as I have ever seen and for them to see their team get behind this cause helped spur them into showing their own support. Now everywhere you look, not only on gamedays -- but throughout the week -- everyone is wearing pink."Of particular inspiration for the team was Lynn's bookkeeper, Linda Hardin -- who has been diagnosed with breast cancer two times in her life and a staff member that students and players see everyday. Smith said that Hardin's faith, courage and belief that she displays everyday in the face of her battle has been a focus for the team's support -- and is the basis of the message of "Believe" that is printed on the back of the Lynn Football pink T-shirts that are worn by coaches and supporters."I've talked to her several times and heard those words come from her on days that you know she doesn't feel good -- you can see it in her eyes -- but she never complains or gripes. She shows up to work and tell you that you have to have that faith and belief," Smith said. "We play a great game on Friday nights -- one that's important and coaches get hired and fired over. But the game of life is so much more important -- and the struggle that those who are effected by breast cancer go through is monumental. And that's the reason why we have decided to make this entire month a pinkout -- to support Ms. Hardin and all of those who fight the breast cancer battle everyday, not just on Friday nights, but seven days a week. We can learn just as much from Ms. Hardin and other people who are going through it than they can ever learn from us."Lynn senior linemen Nathan Berry and Jared Tittle said that the opportunity to show their support for breast cancer awareness and those who they personally know who have battled it was an easy choice for their team."It's just like how we support our community as they come out to cheer for us," Berry said. "We all have family members who have struggled with breast cancer and this is our way of supporting them as well.""There are more people who come out to support us than there lives in our town who have people close to them that are also battling it," Tittle said. "They show their support for their loved ones' battle and we want them to know we're their in support also."Hardin expressed her astonishment and joy about how the team, students and community have shown their support for her battle, as well as those who fight against breast cancer daily."I felt so honored and excited that these young people actually thought about something like this," Hardin said. "I don't think I can correctly put into words how much their support means to me. These are kids who are busy with sports -- who have taken the time to think of other people who have breast cancer. It's incredible to see, especially on Friday night, with the way that the field was decorated, the players and coaches had on pink and our fans were all pinked-out. I hope it is something we will see at other schools happen because it affects so many peoples' lives."Read more: Daily Mountain Eagle - Showing their support

Crimestoppers and a Pink Out

Days #297 - #299:
No pics. Just a story and a link. Chef's camera shy, so he wouldn't let me take his pic, but we had a blast last night at the Shoals Area Crimestoppers Dinner. I very much enjoyed telling one crazy fan of his that he was from Red Bay, AL when she couldn't figure out his accent. you had to be there. It was hilarious.
On to my link, I've never been prouder to be a Lynn Alumni than I am today. Our boys are ranked #1 in the state in football, but that's not why I'm proud. They have completely "Pinked Out" in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month and my best friend Mal's mom, Linda. She's bookkeeper at the school and there has been overwhelming support for her. She's gone through a double mastectomy, chemo and radiation twice, and is one of the sweetest ladies I know. She's amazing and it's AWESOME that they did it in honor of her. Sister told me that the CBS reporter that did the story was just riding through Jasper for something and picked up a Daily Mountain Eagle and saw the pink out and decided it was such a great story that she'd go and do a piece on it for the news. Take two minutes to watch the clip. It's great! :0) http://www.cbs42.com/content/localnews/story/Lynn-Football-Team-Goes-Pink-for-the-Cause/A7dapyNdEUm8TLTxrO7paA.cspx

A Little Bit of Everything

Days #290- #295:
I kinda want to just leave this pics for you and let you figure them out. However, that wouldn't be quite fair since I'm again 6 days behind... AGAIN. Let's start with the bottom and work our way up. That's Josh Quick again. 4-Diamond, Executive Chef Josh Quick to be exact. I'm loving having him over both restaurants. Barely ever saw him when he was in the Tower. Now we see him all the time. Even better, we see him in the mornings. Case in point, we got a fine dining dessert for breakfast! If I could remember the name of it, I'd tell you. It was chocolate.. it wasn't souflee... not creme brulee... but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. I'll have to ask Josh and get back with you. Either way, it was delish! Next we have the sign from the Lakshore Rehab. The bottom code cracked me up. I'm assuming Patient Elopement means you take off. The next is my pal Mikie. He's awesome. So funny. We had a huge F&B Party Last week. His pic was my favorite. Top 2... Mr. Stella Fitzgerald got a bath tonight. It has rocked his world. :0)

Update: Grandma

Days #281-#289:
I know. WAAAAAYYYY Behind. All in good reason. As most of you know, there's been major drama in the Tittle Fam. Thankfully, things are looking up. Below is the email update that i sent to inquiring minds on Monday. One thing I have noticed for sure through all of this, I am loved and have the best friends and family in the world. Grandma is DEFINITELY loved by everyone, everywhere! And no matter how bad things are, the Tittles come out in full force and there is nothing better than having all of my aunts, uncles, and cousins in times of crisis. We are crazy, wild, weird, not extremely intelligent or wealthy, but we love each other and that's all that really matters. I have the best family around and am glad that all of you guys are a part of it as well. :0)

Hi All! I wanted to give you all a quick update on Grandma - and I must start with we serve an Amazingly Soverign God. His fingerprints have been all over this weekend of events and it's exciting to tell you of how He has worked the past 4 days. Even before it all started happening, He was getting things lined up. For instance, I'd taken off work to fly to Louisville to see Cousin. Southwest has amazingly chep flights but you have to leave from Birmingham, rather than Huntsville. So.. I was on my way from Florence to Lynn (to pick up my sister) and then on to Birmingham when I got the call. UNcle Earl had worked at Princeton for many years before transferring to Kirklin Clinic (across town), but he just recently moved back to Princeton (where she was taken). I believe him moving back was all in the plan. Having him know the doctors, nurses, understand the hospital lingo and be able to decipher it for all of us is a miracle in itself. Late Wednesday night, Dad and one of his brothers and one of his sisters got a call from Grandma that she believed she needed to go to the doctor. It turned out that she had a severe hernia in the front of her stomach. She had just come back from x-ray Thursday moring when she told Uncle Earl and Uncle Dennis that her arm felt heavy. After a quick assessment , it was determined she'd had a stroke and they were immediately able to begin to treat her. Had she not been at the hospital for the hernia, I don't believe she'd have ever made it TO the hospital because she is an extremely independent 86 year old that lives by herself, so no one would've found her for a few hours. The neurosurgeon told us that it was a deep bleed in her head, and surgery was no option and with it being located where it was in the brain, he expected the damage to be more on the permananet side of things. (Her face and right arm had been paralyzed as a result of the stroke.) He repeated the CAT Scan Thursday night and Friday morning. Those were long days, but I am glad to report there had been no change - God stopped the bleeding in her head but He didn't stop working there. Thankfully, she never completely lost consciousness... at least the times I saw her... and she recognized us. She has been working her right arm as she's been laying in SICU and has been able to raise it up pretty high and her face is also a little less droopy. We moved her into a regular room last night around 7:30ish. I think this will be much better for her as we will be able to get her up and moving (she's been sitting in a chair this morning) and it gives her much more peace of mind with us in the room with her rather than having to wait 4 hours for a 30 minute visit. She has also told us that she is ready to go HOME... not to one of her kid's houses, but HOME. All reports from the stroke seem to be good for now. The hernia will still have to be fixed in 4-6 weeks, but again, God made it to where that was able to be put on the back burner until she recovered from the stroke. One thing I have learned for sure, if God had taken Grandma, He would've gotten the glory for it. If He gave us a miracle and healed her, He was going to get the glory. Either way, He gets the glory. I am very glad He chose option 2 and let us see a mirace AND still have Grandma. Please continue to remember her as she now has be extremely careful not to rupture that hernia and hopefully in 4-6 weeks we can get it repaired. Thank you so much for your calls, thoughts and prayers. It means more than you could ever know. I truly have the greatest family, church family, and friends that anyone has ever had. If I can ever do anything for any of you, please let me know.
Love to All,
Kim Tittle

A Day With My Peeps!

Days #274-#280:
These are my people!!! We had breakfast together and then had a cookout to end the night. It was fun times. Definitely changing times as we have now added kids into the mix. It was a good day though, complete with Anniston's Smiley FAce Pancake! :0)

Cookies, Crazies, and the Soup Kitchen

Days #274- #280:

Let's see... I'm so far behind I don't know where to start. Last week was busy to say the least. We'll split it up. Mrs. Ann had a birthday. I made her chocolate oatmeal cookies. She wasn't there when I took them. We all decided to eat them for her. Sister and I hit the theater again and saw "The Foreigner". It was pretty funny. It's about a guy to afraid to actually talk to people that he goes to a B&B and pretends to not know English. THey end up telling him all their secrets. IT was hilarious. It was also eye-opening. The Klan was in it. I still can't believe people could've been that insane that they ACTUALLY thought that was a good idea. Still creeps me out. We also went to the Soup Kitchen again. It was fun. We had gumbo, rice, grilled cheeses and chocolate tarts. Delightful! :0)
